The Popular Hawaiian Lihing Candy

Updated: Mar 18, 2019

I myself is new to this. What is Lihing Candy and why is it a thing in Hawaii?

Lihing or also called as Lihing Mui is an orange colored powder that gives off a crazy variety of a strong taste. Wether it’s salty, sweet or sour or all of this taste put together as one, so if you will ask me “will I like it?” I’d say no one can actually guarantee as it’s an acquired taste so no one can be sure how to describe it.

Some people go crazy over this and If you are a traveler or tourist, this thing is the one you should definitely try. I have known people who buys a lotof this mainly because they don’t have it back home. This thing goes to most of the candies and fruits. You’ll be seeing it mixed with the gummy bears, gummy or chewy candies, dried mango, plum, hard rock candies, pickled mango and honestly so much more!

You can find most of this in some local stores, prices are from $1.99 to $5.00 depending on what size it is or which lihing mixed thing it is. and if you will ask me if I like it... well not all of it, I hate the dried mango lihing mui, I’d rather stick to the Philippine dried mango instead of this one, but with gummy candies I’d say it’s not too bad.

Why should you try it? Because... you might or not want to love it but it’s definitely something worth trying. Plus I’d like to know what you think about it, because I have ask a lot of people to describe the taste of it and even the locals get stuck saying... It’s something different and full of spices that cant even totally let you know unless you have tried it.
