Rainbow Village, Taichung

Updated: May 10, 2019

Known for it’s beautifully colored houses artistically painted with Chinese wordings and illustrated characters from roofs, walls, floors and hallways. This small village have made it’s name to be part of the most visited place in Taiwan.

So being in Taiwan we plan to see this artsy place and have our photos taken too. Another photo opportunity for people who wanted some instaworthy pictures.

It’s a nice day and will almost end, perfect time to be here i’d say... This place is not that huge, small rather to be called a village but definitely brings crowd on weekends and even on weekdays specially on their peak season. It gets crowded here as many are fascinated with this artsy place and tend to see it whenever they’re in Taiwan.

Seeing this alone on pictures draws attention. This cute little village is really interesting as this was drawn by Huang Yong Fu, known as one of the last resident of this rainbow village. With his imagination and creativity he painted this characters on the walls of his house then later spread it to his neighbors too.

It was about to be demolished but thankfully the locals and tourist who have been amazed by this petitioned to stop it. Now, many have been witnessing it’s uniqueness and have drawn thousands of tourist in Taichung every month.
