Kawa Bath: A must try unique and cultural way to bath in The Philippines




We all are familiar with Jacuzzi, hot tub bathing or a hot bubble bath but this traditional Filipino bathing will blow your mind away. The Kawa Bath.



"Kawa" in English is "Cauldron" which is a large cast iron pot (kettle) or a large pan.


Kawa is used in the Philippines to cook big servings of food or soups. As we all know, Filipinos love festivities and gatherings inviting all of their town's people. It is also what we often sees in movies that witches used to boil their magical ingredients in creating their magic.


Well, imagine you will let yourself to be cooked alive in this huge Cauldron marinated with herbs and flowers over an open fire. This Kawa bathing in the Philippines is now becoming a hit not only with the locals but also with foreigners from all over the world. Aside from it is a unique way of bathing over an open fire, you will also be bathing amongst nature. That will definitely bring out the inner peace in you.

*From Cogeo Gate 2

- take a jeep (going to sampaloc) and get off at Sitio Maysawa (Maysawa Circuit) (48php)

- take a tricycle and get off at El Patio Razon. (30php)


*From Makati:

- Take a UV from Ayala to Antipolo Church (60php-70php) 

- Get off at Antipolo Church then take a tricycle to Cogeo Gate 2 (28php) 

- From Cogeo Gate 2 take a jeep (going to sampaloc) and get off at Sitio Maysawa (Maysawa Circuit) (48php)

- From Sitio Maysawa, take a tricycle and get off at El Patio Razon. (30php)


*From Ortigas Center: 

- Take a bus/mrt going to Shaw (13php to 16php)

- Then from Shaw take a bus going to Taytay (G-Liner) from Robinson’s Galleria 

 - Get off at Cainta Junction - Then ride a jeepney going to Tanay (P40-45 fare).

- From Junction get on a Jeep to Tropical/Sta.Lucia/Robinson

- From Sta. Lucia Mall, board a jeep to Cogeo Gate 2 

- From Cogeo Gate 2 take a jeep (going to sampaloc) and get off at Sitio Maysawa (Maysawa Circuit) (48php) 

- From Sitio Maysawa, take a tricycle and get off at El Patio Razon. (30php)



Entrance Fee and 1-hour Kawa Bath for 2 is PHP300.00

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS TRIP:

* Bring your towel, soap, shampoo and change of clothes. None of these are provided.

* There are shower and urinal bathrooms available here.

* You can bring your own food since they don't sell any but snacks.

* You may stay for the night, they have a Kubo that can accommodate 25 people or you can bring your own tent.



Overall, I can say that my experience here was great! From nice staff, good view and definitely an unforgettable bath experience.


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

*Is it really hot?:

- Yes it is but you can always tell the staff to adjust the temperature as they add cold water if it gets boiling hot.


*How do they heat it?:

- With the use of the bamboo sticks, they make fire by lighting it right under the giant Kawa.


*Is it hot in there?

- One reason why this place becomes popular is because even in the middle of the day, it gets so cold that there are cold breezes which makes it perfect for a hot bath.

Take note prices may vary, this prices are the actual price that was given to us upon entering. Also as mentioned, they just recently open this place for public and may change if this gets popular :) Shared by two (2) people.


From Cogeo Gate 2

Jeepney Fare -- PHP 96 (48/pax) for 2 pax .

Tricycle. – Php50 (back and forth) for 2pax

Kawa bath Fee – Php300 for 2 pax .

WHAT ELSE CAN YOU SEE THERE?

1. This hobbit house is one of the most visited spot here in El Patio Razon as many would love to see this amazing structure. 50php is collected as an entrance fee to this place, but we didn't have to pay more because we already avail the Kawa bath.


2. This amazing landscape as you take a rest for a breathe of fresh air


3. Their beautiful garden where you can see a lot of beautiful plants and flowers. I even saw some sunflower but I don't think it's their season yet. Who knows? They might have a sunflower farm waiting to bloom here someday.
